Yet another Japan-exclusive Famicom game is getting a new life (quite frankly) thanks to the army of devoted fans. 1990’s Dai Kaiju Deburas just got a fan translation patch, turning it into Giant Monster Flaburas, which is more suitable for those of us in the West.

Broadly speaking, video games don’t treat treating kaiju very well, mostly because Japan tends to keep most of the good ones and all we’re left with are mediocre titles such as Godzilla for NES or Godzilla for PS4. Dai Kaiju Deburas is a rather unique take on the genre as it puts a huge focus on strategy. You don’t get to play as the monster itself, but instead, you’re the military and you have to protect the egg while it’s being transported across Japan.

Technically, it’s pretty much the same thing as 1991’s Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters for the NES, but this game is certainly less of a chore to consume.
