Earth Defense Force 6 is getting a delay
We’’ll have to wait to eradicate those pesky bugs until Summer 2024.
D3 and Sandlot have announced that bug-basher Earth Defense Force 6 will be getting a delay so that the latter can “add finishing touches and finalize preparations for its Western launch.” Aaaand…that’s it. How disappointing.
The Earth Defense Force franchise traces its origins to the PS2 era, debuting with Simple 2000 Series Vol. 31: The Chikyū Bōeigun (also known as Monster Attack in Europe). However, it took six additional years for the series to arrive to the US and that happened with Earth Defense Force 2017 on Xbox 360. Initially released as a budget title, it quickly got the recognition for its so-bad-it's-good charm.
Since then, the series have evolved, with developer Sandlot leaning into the game's intentionally rough aesthetics while refining the gameplay for a more enjoyable experience. As I’m writing this, I’m definitely looking forward to delving into the chaos of Earth Defense Force 5 once again.
Earth Defense Force is coming to the West at some point in Summer 2024. The game will launch on PS4, PS5, and PC.
