The Gane Awards events tend to see a lot of original games showing up and this year’s event is no exception. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU looks like a brand new take on the Metroidvania genre and it’s set to launch next April.
Developed by Surgent Studios under the EA Originals banner in collaboration with Critical Role, boasts an impressive lineup of contributors. Despite the noteworthy names attached, the core concept is what truly stands out and it’s shaping to be a visually stunning action-platformer. The main inspiration, of course, comes from the 'Vania genre.
In a recent interview with GameSpot, the studio revealed that ZAU unfolds as a narrative within a narrative (so to say). A grieving son, mourning his deceased father, delves into a tale centered around Zau. The protagonist, Zau, then strikes a deal with the god of death to resurrect his father.
While promising an emotional journey, the game also showcases engaging action sequences and platforming elements. The hype is huge for this game and we will certainly keep an eye on it.
Kenzera Chronicles: Zau is set to launch on April 23, 2024, on consoles and PC.
