As part of the Day of the Devs stream, Digital Eclipse revealed that the next game in their Gold Master Series will be focusing on Jeff Minter and will be titled Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story.

The Gold Master Series started with The Making of Karateka but the initial “trial run” occurred with Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration. These releases diverge from mere collections, adopting the form of interactive documentaries centered on the games they contain. This approach facilitates the establishment of a more profound context, fostering a heightened appreciation for the featured subjects.

Jeff Vinter is a well-known name in the gaming industry. His career started in the early 1980s when he started developing games for 8-bit microcomputers like the Sinclair ZX81 and the Commodore Vic-20. During this period, he developed numerous games that emulated popular arcade titles—an industry-wide norm and a common entry point for programmers at that time. Perhaps his most renowned work is Tempest 2000, a 1994 release for the Atari Jaguar and a sequel to David Theurer's 1981 arcade classic, Tempest. Even today, Tempest 2000 truly stands out as one of the best games for the Atari Jaguar.

Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is set to highlight Minter's career, spanning 42 games across 8 platforms. While this collection includes multiple iterations of certain games (such as three different versions of Gridrunner), it also offers gems like Tempest 2000 and Revenge of the Mutant Camels '8 - a title originally intended for the canceled Konix Multisystem. Amazing stuff indeed.

Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is coming out in 2024. We don’t know which platforms it will be released on but my guess is that it should be available on PC and most consoles.
