A Half-Life bug that went unchecked for 25 years finally gets fixed
The issue persisted for a whopping 25 years.
Half-Life’s 25th anniversary not only saw Valve releasing a documentary about the legendary game but also a very significant update to feast upon. The new patch brought some crucial bug fixes and it even ironed out one bug that went unchecked since 1998. Holly molly!
In a short clip uploaded to Twitter/X by user @VinciusMedeiro6, we can see that the update fixed a lingering issue with the Blast Pit chapter of the game. If you’ve played the original Half-Life, you’re well aware of this hilarious bug that involves a flying scientist.
When Gordon Freeman gets into a control room, a giant monster crashes through a window and grabs a panicked scientist. Sadly, due to hardware limitations at the time, the lab coat-wearing NPC gets dragged off by the monster, but the animation makes it look like he’s floating in midair.
This issue persisted in the game ever since launch and even the big anniversary update didn’t address it. But now, we finally got that problem sorted out. Better late than never! If only we’ve been given Half-Life 3…
Half-Life is available on PC and PS2.
