Insomniac encourages Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players to download day one patch

We’ll soon be swinging across the streets of New York thanks to the upcoming launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. But before that time comes, Insomniac Games is encouraging all players to download the day one patch.

In an image made via Twitter, the studio confirms that the whole game is available on the disc for physical players and is fully playable without having to install the patch.

But “for the best experience, we highly encourage physical/disc-based players to download update Version 1.001.002 on launch day — before experiencing the opening mission of the game for the first time.”

The studio also explained that the day one patch (which serves to add “polish to the gold master version” of the game’s physical edition” will be automatically loaded for all digital players who pre-load the game. On top of that, the day one patch “improves the opening sections of the game” and adds accessibility options, according to Insomniac.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch on October 20 as a PS5 exclusive.
