Epic’s director of Publishing Strategy, Sergiy Galyonkin, is leaving the company
A strategic leave.
Sergiy Galyonkin has announced that he has resigned from his role as Director of Publishing Strategy at Epic Games after spending more than eight years at the company.
He used the opportunity to thank Epic for everything they did in support of Ukraine during Russia’s ongoing invasion. He acknowledges his role in establishing Epic’s direction (Epic 4.0, as he says) but adds that he feels he is not suitable for their new course (Epic 5.0).
“Now, Epic Games is on its way to transforming from a game developer, engine creator, and publisher into a platform – Epic 5.0. I am not a good fit for this new version of Epic; it requires people of a different kind.”
Though, he also goes on to say “I plan to remain in the gaming industry. I also hope to be more vocal now that I don’t have to worry about the PR department knocking on my DMs.” I’m certainly looking forward to his future endeavors.
In 2015, Sergey Galyonkin pioneered the development of the Steam Spy service, a tool designed to monitor sales data on the Steam platform. Leveraging his expertise in tracking gaming platforms, he later contributed his insights and knowledge to assist Epic Games in the creation of the Epic Games Store. We wish him the best of luck in whatever he is planning next.
