The Gamescom Opening Night showed off the first official gameplay trailer for Crimson Desert. Unsurprisingly, the gameplay looks like an enhanced and revamped version of the combat from Black Desert Online.
The visually stunning world of Pywel, ravaged by war and steeped in medieval fantasy, holds an undeniable allure that I am eagerly anticipating to delve into. We also have quite an impressive showcase of fishing gameplay here. It's funny how this isn't a common feature in all games, given how engaging it is. In the presented video, we can see the player successfully reeling in a sizable Barracuda, seemingly a consumable resource that could restore a substantial 150 HP.
While the open-world action-adventure game boasts remarkable beauty and a notably refined presentation, regrettably, no specific release date or timeframe is provided.
We first saw Crimson Desert at the 2020 Game Awards. It has undergone quite an extensive development journey courtesy of Pearl Abyss, the same studio behind Black Desert Online. Although originally introduced as an MMORPG, Pearl Abyss altered its course by the end of 2020 and took a new direction that features both single-player and multiplayer elements.
Despite its imperfections and the undeniable presence of pay-to-win mechanics, Black Desert Online managed to boast one of the most exceptional combat systems seen in the realm of MMORPGs. With Crimson Desert set to utilize an even more refined iteration of this combat system, I’m really excited to see how this turns out.
We have no release date for Crimson Desert, but we know it’s coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
