As it appears, the heavily rumored Black Panther game is very real. Electronic Arts have technically confirmed these rumors and announced that a brand new Seattle-based AAA development studio, Cliffhanger Games, is the developer behind it.
Cliffhanger is led by veteran Kevin Stephens, former Studio Head of Monolith Productions, a studio well-known for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel Shadow of War.
Kevin himself had something to say on this matter as well: “ We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich SuperHero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.”
Black Panther will be a third-person single-player game with a fresh and original story. Cliffhanger will cooperate with Marvel Games to ensure that Wakanda feels as authentic as possible.
We will keep an eye on this project for sure!
