Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a new 2D adventure coming to Nintendo Switch on October 20

The June Nintendo Direct was very eventful indeed and arguably the biggest highlight was the announcement of a new Mario game. Titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a brand new 2D platformer starring everyone’s favorite plumber and his friends. The game will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2023.

The trailer features everything that you would expect to see in a classic 2D Mario game but with a couple of twists. We can see an elastic and playable world, talking flowers, lanky Goombas, growing pipes, a night-time mode, and plenty of other strange phenomena. The trailer also showed off the so-called “Wonder Flowers”, which are powerups that can change the appearance of our hero in numerous different ways. For instance, he can become taller, increase his jump height, and even turn into an elephant.

Other than Mario, you can play as Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and even Princess Daisy. While it may look like yet another regular 2D Mario platform game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, in fact, plays around with the world and the characters in ways that we’ve never seen before. I am certain that Nintendo will deliver yet another standard-defining title here. They’ve done so many times with Mario already that I even stopped counting.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 20.
