Nintendo have announced that they will be delisting Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man 99 this fall. Currently available on the Nintendo eShop as a benefit to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, it will no longer be able to download starting from October 8.
Everyone who owns a paid edition of the game (either Pac-Man 99 Deluxe Pack or Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock) can still access CPU Battle, Time Attack, and Blind Score Attack in an offline form. On top of that, all purchased themes and cosmetic items will still be available as well. All online services for the game will be suspended, though, so make sure you use the opportunity while you can. After October 8, it’s game over pretty much.
Ninty gave no explanation for their decision, but the truth is, the game hasn’t done as well as its sibling, Tetris 99, which launched back in 2019. So yeah, this is the very likely reason.
Pac-Man 99 is still available on Nintendo Switch. If you want to enjoy it after October 8, you’ll need to purchase Pac-Man 99 Deluxe Pack or Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock. Only that way you’ll be able to play it in an offline fashion.
