World of Warcraft is introducing a cross-faction guilds in a new patch
Are we witnessing the end of war in Warcraft?

The massively popular MMO World of Warcraft is getting its patch 10.1 (titled “Embers of Neltharion”) as a part of the Dragonflight content rollout and the biggest highlight of the update is that it will be bringing the divided factions (Horde and the Alliance) closer together via cross-faction guilds.
While previously guilds had to remain within faction lines, the new patch will allow guilds to be formed with people coming from both the Horde and the Alliance. This is quite a change in direction as the ongoing conflict between the two factions used to be the essence of the game. But in recent years, we’ve seen a shift, with patch 9.2.5 for Shadowlands introducing cross-faction instanced content. And now Blizzard intends to bring the divided sides even closer together.
World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas gave an interview for GameSpot where he spoke about this matter, saying: “This is still opt-in. We want to make sure the focus is not on tearing down Alliance and Horde as entities in Warcraft, or making complete unity the default experience, but making sure players who have real life or other out-of-game bonds with folks on the opposite faction can play with them and experience WoW together because, at the end of the day, that’s the prime value here.”
Well, while the essence of war seems to be diminishing on Azeroth, at least you can now hang out with your guildies more comfortably, no matter which faction they belong to.
At the moment, the World of Warcraft Dragonflight patch 10.1 does not have a set release date, but we’ll keep you updated if something changes.
