Fortnite players raise more than $144 million USD for Ukraine war relief charities
Well done guys and gals.
Epic Games have announced the end of their Ukraine humanitarian drive and Fortnite players managed to raise more than $144 million USD in total. Bravo!
The incentive saw all proceeds of Fortnite sales generated from in-game items going towards a number of charities and all of them have supported humanitarian efforts in the wake of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Launching alongside the Chapter 3 Season 2 release, Fortnite players joined in to raise a lot of money in just two weeks. That massive sum went to charities like UNICEF, World Food Programme, Direct Relief, and more.
The Fortnite community and Epic themselves were joined in their Ukraine war relief effort by Xbox, and Phil Spencer responded to the announcement via his official Twitter account by saying: “Really incredible to see how the gaming community can have impact beyond the playing of games. Thank you (Fortnite) for putting this together, inspiring to see the results.” I couldn’t agree more, Phil!
A new update also arrived to the popular battle royale shooter. It brings back building playlists and it also tweaks the Heavy Sniper Rifle, so you can expect the rifle to do more damage to the vehicles. Lastly, it also adds some new balance changes, which you can read more about on the official website. You can also check out all the Creative mode changes in the latest Fortnite update right here.
Well done Epic and well done Fortnite players! We’re all proud of you.
