The Entertainment Software Association have announced that E3 is not happening this year in either physical or digital forms,

The ESA made an announcement via their official website last night, stating: “We previously announced that E3 would not be held in person in 2022 due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19. Today, we announce that there will also be no digital E3 showcase in 2022.”

They continued by adding: “Instead, we will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience. We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023.”

Last year, E3 took place as a virtual showcase across three days in June. The show had presentations from veterans like Square Enix, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and  Xbox & Bethesda’s joint presentation. This year will now mark three years since the last “traditional” E3 event took place back in 2019.

The times we are living in have proven to be difficult and unpredictable, but here’s hoping we will return to normal soon enough.
