KO_OP’s Goodbye Volcano High was initially revealed during Sony’s 2020 PlayStation Showcase, and until this point, it faced numerous delays. The first one came in 2021 and it was caused by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The next one arrived in 2022 and it was pushed to this year before being delayed again after missing its June 15 release date.

But it seems August 29 is the release date that is set in stone as Ko_OP have announced that the game has just gone gold. They congratulated the team for their “huge achievement” (and sure enough, they deserved it after putting in such hard work) and confirmed that the game is coming out in six days (at the time of writing this text).

The plot revolves around three dinosaurs and members of the band VVORM DRAMA - Fang, Reed, and Trish. With all the obligations in their final year of high school and a limited time left, the trio will have to make some very difficult decisions. As explained by KO_OP in a dedicated PlayStation blog post, we can expect a cinematic game that’s meant to feel like binging on a series, though “unlike with TV, you’ll have the power and the emotion in your hands as you guide our characters through a branching narrative.” The game has rhythm elements to complement its musical themes and features an original soundtrack done by Montreal-based artist Dabu.

Goodbye Volcano High is coming to PS4, PS5, and PC on August 29. You can check out the demo on Steam right now.
