Crawly Games have announced that their deckbuilder horror game, Draft of Darkness, is leaving Steam Early Access and going full version on August 23, 2023.

The game can essentially be described as a child of Resident Evil and Slay the Spire. It has grainy, digitized actors fighting with unimaginable horrors in rusty lo-fi locales and it’s an ammo-focused turn-based deckbuilder where you get to recruit survivors and battle monsters and government robots. All maps are procedurally generated and you will be prevented from advancing until you are completely overwhelmed by darkness. All the credits that you gain can be used to buy booster packs after each run, allowing you to build up your arsenal over time.

The game even has a “meta-story progression system.” The developers describe it as “Every decision can alter the story’s outcome and allow for new ways to progress. Different choices are available in each run, but be careful; some will have serious consequences.”

Draft of Darkness is available right now for PC on Steam Early Access. The full version will launch on August 23, 2023.
