Ternox have just launched their immersive finance sim with the 80s, Stonks-9800, on Early Access.

You may find the whole concept groundbreaking, but in reality, economic sims aren’t a new thing in gaming. We’ve had some titles back in the days of mainframe computers already. That being said, Stonks-9800 takes the whole concept back to Japan of the 1980s. It is described as a menu-driven interactive fiction game where you buy and sell things like cars and real estate. The main goal of the game is to improve your standard of living while not passing out due to overwork.

The studio said that the game will have a rather chill vibe and it will be a reference to the NEC PC-9800 – the ubiquitous computer seen in Japan in the 1980s. So cool.

Stonks-9800 is available right now via Steam Early Access. The full version will launch in 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
