Maxis and Electronic Arts are working on a new game set in The Sims universe. The next generation game is currently titled “Project Rene” and the latest Behind The Sims Summit stream revealed that the game is in “very early” stages of development. The project title Rene was chosen as a way to represent the team’s “renewed commitment” to make an even better future for the franchise.

Collaboration seems to be an important aspect of the new The Sims game and we will have the option to play solo or collaborate with each other. We will also be able to play across different supported devices. That’s pretty much all the information we have at the moment but Maxis promised some updates as the development moves on.

Meanwhile, The Sims 4 base game is now available as a free-to-play title on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Mac. Maxis promised further updates to the game and they’ve even partnered with Overwolf for an official mod destination in CurseForge.to provide a “supplementary experience” for all enthusiastic modders out there and an organized mod platform that everyone can enjoy.

We’ll keep you updated with new information as it rolls out.
