The Sims 4 is a life simulation game patterned after human lives. However, the game became less convincing when Electronic Arts decided to forgo Toddlers at launch. That was back in September 2014. The decision didn't sit well with fans, and it would be a while before EA succumbs to fan demand. Actually, it took them a very long time - more than two years, actually.

They were probably busy with other more important things. Like coming up with ways to one-up Activision in the FPS scene with their popular Battlefield series. But hey, better late than never. As of today, Toddlers are now available as a free update for The Sims 4. The Sims executive producer Lindsay Pearson announced the "big" news at the official website.

This effectively shuts down any notion that the cute little Toddlers would arrive via a dreaded paid expansion pack. EA is known to employ such methods, so it's no surprise if they actually did that. According to Pearson, bringing the Toddlers into the game required them to find "the right time, resources, and design."

For what it's worth, at least Pearson and her team didn't just outright ignore fans. In fact, the Toddlers have been in the works for quite some time, said Pearson. And that not talking about the update while they work out the kinks was really difficult.

The Toddlers themselves are very interactive, and you can teach them life skills, like talking and taking a shit properly, by simply using flash cards. If only real life was as simple as that. Of course, being the nurturers, your Sims can take care of them in the same way you would a real-life toddler. According to Pearson, they added more than a hundred new Toddler-related animations, along with new outfits and objects.

For fans who were holding out on buying The Sims 4 for two long years because of the lack of Toddlers, now would be a good time to finally open your wallets and buy the game. If you've had it since Day 1, simply download the update and say hello to the little pumpkins. As mentioned, the update is free.

The Sims 4 is available on PC and Mac.
